Meet Ian Wooton – The Problem-Solver Behind the Scenes

As Operations Director at Nova, Ian Wooton brings a rare blend of technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and commercial insight, all focused on one goal: keeping things running smoothly for our customers and our team.

Ian’s career began in science, following in his father’s footsteps as a chemist. His father originally studied chemistry before moving into the double glazing industry, where he specialised in sealants. Following a similar path, Ian also studied chemistry before joining his father’s double glazing company in the mid-1980s. 

There, he gained hands-on experience running the shop floor, laying the foundations for his deep understanding of both the technical and operational sides of the window and door industry. His expertise expanded into IT systems, where he gained valuable insight into how the right data and processes can help production meet demand and support the sales team with accurate, competitive pricing.

“I’ve seen both sides of the business, from the shop floor to the office. That experience helps me spot issues early, streamline operations, and make sure we’re delivering the right product, at the right price, with the right service.”

At Nova, Ian’s role is all about integration, ensuring that sales, production, and customer service teams are aligned, and that the flow from order to delivery is as efficient and reliable as possible. He works across departments to resolve challenges, improve systems, and prevent issues from recurring through better processes.

From bringing new products to market and ensuring they’re competitively priced, to reviewing customer feedback and assessing whether bespoke requests are feasible, Ian plays a vital role in shaping Nova’s responsive, solution-focused approach.
